It's been a while since I last posted, I know, I'm sorry. It has bee a busy summer so far. We started it with skipping Samantha's last day of school to be in Oregon for a job interview.
On the way into town, Jamie thought it would be fun to start the visit with a night's stay in the ER in Springfield, Oregon. Jamie had been having severe pain in is stomach about every other week for about a month. We now know that it was caused by his gall bladder. He managed to get one of these the last hour of the drive, and it got bad enough that our first stop was the ER. We are lucky that Jamie's mom was able to meet us there and take the kids back to her house so that I could stay with Jamie. About a week after we got back, Jamie had his gall bladder removed, and he feels better then ever. Jamie did wonderfully at the interview, despite still recovering from his attack, and they have selected him to move on to the next round in their interview process. There are many l-o-o-o-n-g steps for this job, but they all are going well. Sometimes it's hard to be patient as we wait for everything they need to do. The silver lining in their long process is that their time table matches Jamie's for his last day in the Air Force. They are very impressed with Jamie. I will pass along details as I can. Despite the hospital visit, we had a fun quick vacation in Oregon and can't wait to move back in September.
We also have had Jamie home for two weeks recovering from his surgery, and Grandma Roberts was able to visit for almost a week. We also had breakfast in Boise with a lot of our cousins and aunts and uncles to help celebrate my grandparents' anniversary.
The kids are all doing well. They are excited that it is summer and they can just take it easy. They are keeping track of all the upcoming events to mark when school starts and our move. We have Jamie's birthday, Independence Day, and Samantha's birthday coming up faster then I can believe. Sam also asks about school this fall and I tell her that school starts at the same time as we move and Riley's birthday. Why does everything happen at once? They are excited to move and start our next adventure, and if they understood, putting down our roots.
Riley has mastered crawling, but not the speed of it. It's funny that you can almost see his thought process. It seems that if he has some where to go or something to get, he scoots there on his tummy, boy has he gotten fast at that. But if he is just out for cruise, he will crawl, and loves it. He also pulls up on everything he can, and somethings he shouldn't. I can get him to walk while holding on to me and he really loves it. He watches JJ run by and you can see the desire to join him in running around the house. A second tooth showed up in Riley's mouth the other day, and he is putting it to good use chewing on everything, but food.
JJ started the terriable two's about a month ago. Some days are filled with many tantrums and time outs. But, he loves to help me around the house, play and snuggle. It is easy to see how much he loves his brother and can't wait till he can play with him more, and in a more big kid way.
Andrea and Samantha are quickly mastering the Nintendo, the original one. Andrea is picking it up faster then Samantha, so I had to laugh yesterday when some neighborhood kids came over and Samantha was teaching them what to do. They kept asking if we had a playstation. The girls are keeping busy reading stories, playing outside, and playing with their brothers. We even joined a summer reading program at the library where they can do little projects each week.
I have a lot of pictures from the last month to sort through and post. I hope to do that soon. Till then, I hope this will do.
