Cereal?

I decided to try and start giving Riley some rice cereal. He did not like it. I even put some apple baby food in it. He seemed to dislike it even more. I am not even sure if any made it to his tummy. JJ seemed to remember when I fed him and started to show some jealousy. I offered him a bite a couple of times. So here are some pictures of his first cereal.

My Boys

JJ gave us a hard week a couple weeks ago. He got his second batch of teeth in. And I mean that the way it sounds. The first batch came in last July while we were visiting family. He got six teeth in then. And he must have decided it was fun because he did it again. Six teeth at once. Poor kid. But now he has all the front teeth and his molars. I think he is enjoying the new teeth, but still isn't sure about them. Sometimes we see him playing with them. I think he is enjoying the ease at chewing his food too.

We have also put the boys in big boy beds, respective to their age. JJ is now in a toddler bed and Riley is in the crib. They are both enjoying their new beds. Once we showed JJ that his bed was ready for him, he immediately climbed up and wouldn't get down. He would scoot to the edge, and as soon as his feet touched the carpet, he would climb back up. Then he would do the "JJ jump" around the bed. I will try to get some video of it because words will not do it justice. Riley seems to be enjoying more space in his bed, and especially the mobile.

Yesterday Jamie put Riley in the jumping toy (no wonder JJ likes to jump on the bed). After some time I said to Jamie, Not to jinx it, but this is the longest Riley has been in the jumper and been happy yet. Riley usually only spends 10 minutes or so in the jumper before he gets tired of it. This is why:


He was probably only in there for half an hour, most of the time awake. And then JJ promptly triped and fell and woke him up.

I was asked to try and get a picture or two of the boys together. I think Riley is going to be as big as JJ soon.

Riley

We bought this jumping toy last year for JJ and to say he loved it would be an understatement. Knowing that we were having another baby so soon, we held onto hoping that the next one would like it at least half as much as JJ did. Today I put Riley in it while I was changing the sheets in their room. In the time it took me to walk down the hall to get the camera and get back, Riley had figured out how to jump and get the toys to play songs. He seemes to really enjoy it. I am excited that he will have some sitting up toys to paly with, he will be able to see around him more and that we will get more use out of this toy.

What a look! It's almost as if he is saying hurry up mom.

For the first couple pictures, as soon as I clicked the button, he would start to roll over.

Glasses?!

In October Samantha brought a note home from school saying that she might have a vision problem and that we should take her in to get her eyes examined. We did, and the results were that she was borderline eye sight problems. He said that the decision was up to us, but if we started to notice anything, or her teacher said something, they we should do something. We decided to wait and see. Just before Christmas her teacher caught up with us and said she thinks that Sam has trouble seeing some things in class. We took Samantha back in to get her eyes checked again. Samantha now wears glasses. She was so excited to be getting glasses and couldn't wait for them to come in. The novelty of glasses has worn off some, so every once in a while she doesn't want to wear them. And we have only lost them once (if only they would keep their room clean).

Christmas

This year we decided to spend Christmas at home. We are glad we made that decision since the weather was very bad in the Northwest. We are happy that Jamie is in a position right now that he was able to spend several days home with us over Samantha's two week break. It was nice to have everyone home for a few days (with no surgeries) and just hang out. Santa was very kind to us all and we had a great morning of opening presents.

Samantha was very excited when she opened this. She promptly put it on and wore it the rest of the day.

Samantha is still very much into Hannah Montana. Just about once every week, she tells me that when she has a baby, she is going to name her Hannah Montana. I wonder how long this stage will last?

The search began a couple of years ago to get this for Andrea. It began when I found a toy iron at Savers for a couple dollars. Since then, whenever I get out my iron, Andi is always quick to run and get her iron. At first it was really cute, but then she wanted to iron right next to me, what I was ironing and I got afraid that she would get burned. I would try and make a make-shift ironing board for her, but it wasn't good enough for her. So I started the search. Finally this year I found one! I was thrilled. She loves it. It came with the board, an iron, "can" of starch, a basket and two hangers. Andrea and Samantha have ironed a lot (and some very odd) things around the house.

I thought her smile in this pictures was cute.

JJ got a lot of cars and trucks for Christmas. He loves them all and carries them around the house all day, hiding them all over the house. We made the mistake of opening up a couple packages of the cars and all he was interested in after that was carrying around his cars, driving them on the presents we gave him to open, and sitting on the other presents. Anything that comes up to about his knees, is a chair to him. (That's candy from his stocking on his chin)

This was about the only unwrapping that we got JJ to do.

Riley spent his time looking around at everyone, but not to interested in what was going on. He got a lot of toys that he seems to be really enjoying. He also got some new clothes, he is growing so fast I hope he gets to wear them more then a couple times.

December, all Wrapped up

When I look at my blog, it looks like nothing happened in the past month. But that isn't true. December was a very busy month for us, and the month and Christmas was over for us before it seemed to start. I spent the first half of the month recovering from two surgeries. The first was to break apart a large kidney stone. The second was having my gall bladder removed. I have had a few problems with both for a while, and with the doctors on base, sometimes it takes a while to be seen and get results back. But once they decide there is a problem, things seem to happen before you know it. That's what happen in both cases. I am glad that both are over, and now that it has been a few weeks since the surgeries, I can say that it was worth it, and I feel great.

The rest of the month was busy with Christmas and all the snow that kept coming. Since we live on base now, we are required to keep our driveway and sidewalks shoveled. With all the wind we get, the snow really piles up and we have been very busy trying to keep up with the snow. Sometimes it seems like we can't keep up.

Hopefully this new year will find us all in good health and a little less busy (and a few more posts).
